Storm Irene

So much anticipation…so little action. On Saturday up in Swampscott, the folks at the Historic Swampscott Fish House were pulling their boats out of the water. An old man was fishing in Nahant Bay in a sea that looked like glass. And a lone kayak/surfer paddled along in the still air. Then the wind came, and some rain. The rain stopped. The wind stayed and wrenched trees from the ground, taking power lines with them. Residents reemerged from their homes to find branches through their windows and roofs. And in the middle of it all there were windsurfers and boat houses…
